Photos by

Your wedding day is filled with lots of emotions and every moment of that day contributes to the continuation of your love story. While the big moments like first looks, exchanging vows, and your first kiss are inevitable to be captured, the smaller moments can often be missed and be the ones that are the most important to you.

Capturing the smallest details such as your rings, jewelry, invitations, or even some of the bigger moments can fall under the radar. We want to make sure that your wedding album is filled with the magical memories you treasure and value. If you need some ideas on how to make sure that happens, keep reading to find out some tips and tricks we recommend!

Create a Shot List

When you book your photographer, chances are they will sit down with you before your day to make sure that they are capturing all of your special moments. They will go through your timeline and make sure they are getting everything you need out of the day. This is the perfect time to make sure that you are mentioning those little sentimental details or moments you need captured. Then, on your wedding day they will have this list you made so that you can be stress free on your day!

Flatlay

This is the perfect time to gather up all of those small details and capture them all in one photo. Make sure to schedule a time for both you and your significant other’s details in this time frame. Some of these items that we recommend are: rings, invitations, jewelry, shoes, ribbon, extra flowers, hair accessories, perfume, vow books, veil, cufflinks, watch, socks, and ties. Note: When you’re gathering up all of these items, placing them in your shoebox will allow for easy transportation!

Decor

Decor is something that is going to make your day feel complete. It is the time where you are able to play around and get creative with your vision for the day. These details can include table settings, photo backdrops, florals, aisle decor, place cards, and so much more. If you don’t know where to start, Pinterest is an amazing way to be able to gather some ideas on what your vision might be. At Ivy House, we offer in-house decor rentals ranging from table numbers to outdoor bars. We also set up for all of the items you rent from us allowing for more of a stress-free day.

Getting Ready

You have planned everything out for your special day and it’s finally time to start getting ready! During this time, you’re getting ready with some of your favorite people and you want to remember everything that happened during this time. Before putting on the dress, it’s fun to capture you and your people in your getting ready outfits. During this time, your photographer can also take pictures of the dresses or the suits. Then, they can capture getting hair and makeup done and other elements of this time.

Desserts

Whether you’re a cake person or a donut person, dessert is something that people can be most excited about when it comes to food. There is no right or wrong choice when it comes to picking your dessert. If you want to stick to tradition, cake and cupcakes are the way to go. But, if you're looking for a way to change it up; donuts, bundt cakes, cookies, and cheesecake are a good way to have something a little different. If you want to have cake but don’t want to order a lot, some couples get a small cake to cut just the two of them, and then get smaller treats for their guests.

Overall, we want your wedding day to be perfect! If there are things you do or do not want captured, it’s essential to make sure that you communicate that with your photographer so they can accomplish that for you. Ivy House Team would love to help you in any way we can to make this day flawless for you and all of your guests!
